On the weekends I generally have more time. I try to let my body recoup from working, living, prepping food, just everything. I sleep in then I give my body some movement. Everyone’s lymphatic system needs exercise but as a celiac it’s even more important to help your body cleanse itself of toxins.
Fruit Smoothie
After a good stretch and walk, the creaminess of a smoothie tends to hit the spot. I like to stick to frozen mango and berries but experiment to find your favorite. Know your body burns sugar first so adding greens like spinach really is doing yourself a disservice. Save it for a fresh salad later on in the day when your body can properly use the nutrients and avoid bloat.
My sweetie likes to add bananas to his smoothie. Personally, I avoid. Bananas have properties that mimic gluten. I simply cannot digest them. Play around and find what works best for you.
For my smoothies I use Simple Truth’s frozen fruit. Many companies share production line, have additives or are not gluten free. Label reading is something you should get used to as a celiac. It will save you a lot of pain and money. And invest in a quality blender. I love my Ninja Blender. It is powerful, quick and worth every penny.
