Ham glaze is a wonderful way to add flavor and texture to your ham.
Ham Glaze
Many store-bought hams come with a marinade pack but as a person with celiac, I cannot eat them. This recipe helps cover that void and the taste is exceptional. The stickiness of the honey and maple mixed with cinnamon and ginger adds so much fun and flavor to your ham.
Ingredients
Instructions
To a small saucepan add the following ingredients.
-
1/2 C pure maple syrup
-
1/3 C raw honey
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
1 teaspoon ground ginger
-
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Whisk over medium heat until it boils.
-
Reduce heat to low/medium. Continuously whisk while it low boils for 5 minutes.
-
Remove from heat. You can leave your glaze in the saucepan or pour into a glass bowl.
-
During the last 30 minutes of your ham cook time, brush your ham with about half of the glaze.
-
Return ham to the oven and bake for 15 minutes.
-
Remove ham again, basting with the remaining glaze.
-
Finish baking your ham. It should look caramelized and feel tender and moist when done.
-
This is enough glaze for up to a 10 lb ham. Anything bigger I would double the recipe.
