Hot Italian Sandwiches

Whenever I have family over, hot Italian sandwiches is one of my go to meals. They are quick, easy and the family loves them.

Description

I came up with this recipe when I was first diagnosed with celiac disease. As my body healed, I found I could no longer digest. I continue to make for my family per their request. It eases my mind to not have gluten involved when preparing a meal.

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf Udi’s bread
  • 1 – 8 oz pkg Hormel Natural smoked turkey
  • 1 – 8 oz pkg Hormel Natural salami slices
  • 2 medium yellow onions – sliced
  • 2 medium roma tomatoes – sliced
  • 1 jar Mezzetta pepperoncini slices
  • Italian seasoning
  • Extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil.

  3. Lay out your bread on your cookie sheet. I can fit 12 slices.

  4. Drizzle a teaspoon of olive oil onto each slice of bread. Spread oil with a butter knife.

  5. Build your sandwich on 6 slices of the oiled bread.
  6. 3 slices of salami

  7. 2 slices of turkey

  8. Onions

  9. Tomatoes

  10. Pepperoncini

  11. Sprinkle everything with Italian seasoning.

  12. Keep the tops off and bake for 13 minutes or until your bread is golden and crispy.

  13. Top your sandwiches and eat hot from the oven.

  14. Any extras can be stored once cooled wrapped in foil and into the fridge. Warm in the oven to bring back the crispiness.
